Yuan Goang-Ming - Everyday Maneuver (2018) / Everyday War (2024) XPO-1

Everyday Maneuver (2018) Filmed during Taiwan’s annual Wanan Air Raid Drill, Everyday Maneuver was recorded by placing five drone cameras simultaneously above major thoroughfares. The linear motion of the cameras evokes surveillance. The deserted cityscape interrupted only by references to news reports and staged incidents, reveals the normalization of military preparedness in everyday urban life.

Everyday War (2024) A quiet studio apartment is methodically surveyed by a camera that moves steadily through the space. Explosions shatter the interior, reducing it to ruins. Then, the space gradually returns to its original state. Through this cyclical destruction and restoration, the work places war-like conditions within the domestic sphere, merging the ordinary with the catastrophic. Find it at XPO-1
