Aura Satz - Warning in Waiting (2025)

Warnings in Waiting reimagines the sound of the siren in an immersive video installation created with more than twenty collaborators, including Laurie Spiegel and Moor Mother. Filmed across locations from the United States to Lapland and Fukushima, the work traces the lifecycle of sirens, from active warning systems embedded in landscapes of risk to obsolete relics stored in junkyards. Through newly composed soundscapes the installation asks: does an alarm always have to alarm, and how do we respond to constant signals of crisis in a world shaped by war, climate disaster and technological control?

Aura Satz is a London-based artist working across film, sound, performance and sculpture. Her practice explores listening as both subject and method, often examining how technologies shape the way we hear and interpret the world. Satz frequently collaborates with composers, vocalists and sound artists, using these exchanges to uncover overlooked histories, particularly the contributions of women pioneers in electronic music and experimental sound.
