WERC - The Voyeur of Utter Destruction (As Beauty) (2025) XPO-5

The Voyeur of Utter Destruction (As Beauty) is an interactive installation in which you purchase and set off explosions in an imaginary city. The more you spend, the greater the destruction. Drawing from the visual language of video games and blockbuster cinema, the piece transforms spectacle into a monetary transaction. Destruction becomes scalable. Consumable. Affordable. However, as the explosions grow, so does the discomfort. By echoing digital fantasy and real-world violence, the installation confronts our fascination with catastrophe. It questions what it means to monetize devastation. At what point does spectacle become complicity? Find it at XPO-5
